Bahia Begins Returning 428 Recovered Phones From Latest Móbile 360° Sweep

Overview

• The handover starts at 10:00 at the Security Operations and Intelligence Center auditorium in Salvador, with unclaimed devices to be retrieved later at the police unit of record.
• The seventh edition of the operation, conducted from August 13 to October 15, recovered more than 2,200 phones statewide, according to SSP-BA.
• Of the devices recovered, 428 are cleared for return, and about 170 owners have been identified and notified by Civil Police.
• Móbile 360° is a statewide, multi-agency effort targeting theft, robbery, fencing, device adulteration and illicit sales with participation from fiscal and consumer regulators.
• SSP-BA chief Marcelo Werner urged victims to file online reports with the IMEI and warned that buying stolen phones is a crime, linking the work to Operação Freedom, which produced 38 arrests and 46 search warrants.
