Bad Bunny Pitches Shrek Sequel During SNL Sketch with Comedy Trio Please Don't Destroy

Bad Bunny dreams of an unconventional Shrek sequel featuring Donkey's cancer diagnosis, Michael Jackson as the main character, and Shrek's heroic sacrifice; despite enthusiasm in journey from sketch comedy to potential movie franchise, the singer loses interest by the end.

  • During a Saturday Night Live sketch, musician and host Bad Bunny came up with a concept for a sequel to Shrek, named 'Shrek: Infinity', in a collaboration with comedy trio Please Don't Destroy.
  • In the unconventional story line, Michael Jackson is the main character, the character Donkey is diagnosed with cancer, and Shrek ends up sacrificing himself by piloting an escape pod into the sun.
  • Bad Bunny assigned the roles of Puss in Boots, Donkey, Michael Jackson, as well as himself in Shrek attire. The sequel was suggested to be produced by indie studio A24.
  • Although the SNL sketch was perceived as eccentric, it reflects the flexibility of Saturday Night Live hosts in choosing sketch topics and the challenges SNL writers face in accommodating the eccentricities of their hosts.
  • Despite generating an entire script and getting the comedy trio on board, Bad Bunny eventually lost interest in the idea, discarding the idea for 'Shrek: Infinity'.
