Overview

  • On July 9, Roxane GmbH initiated a voluntary recall after routine internal tests detected bacterial contamination in its Gut&GÜNSTIG and Naturalis mineral water brands.
  • The recall covers 0.5- and 1.5-liter PET bottles sourced from the Clara spring in Jessen, affecting Gut&GÜNSTIG nationwide except Saarland and Baden-Württemberg and Naturalis in ten federal states.
  • The Bundesinstitut für Risikobewertung warns that contaminated mineral water can cause gastrointestinal symptoms including diarrhea, nausea, vomiting and cramps.
  • Edeka, Netto and Marktkauf have removed the affected products from shelves and are accepting returns without receipts for a full refund.
  • Foodwatch highlights parallels to a French scandal involving Roxane’s parent company Alma Group and is calling on authorities to make all contamination data public.
