Overview
- Late on Sept 16, a signalling failure halted East–West Line services between Aljunied and Tanah Merah after a fault in the uninterruptible power supply system.
- SMRT deployed station staff, activated free regular and bridging buses, advised alternative routes, and issued e-Travel Chits for affected commuters.
- On the morning of Sept 17, a separate signal fault on the Thomson–East Coast Line caused delays between Woodlands North and Bayshore, with SMRT initially asking riders to add 15 minutes.
- SMRT briefly stopped TEL trains to facilitate recovery before reporting progressive resumption at about 8.38am, while EWL services were restored by around 4.30am.
- Commuters reported crowded and hot conditions, with at least one train stalled for about an hour, and the incidents followed multiple recent network disruptions and a prior LTA fine over a 2024 EWL outage.
