Baby-Sitters Club Musical Sets Nov. 13 Industry Presentation, Eyes 2027 Premiere

TWTheatricals is developing a full-length stage adaptation that revisits the original friends as 25-year-olds.

Overview

  • TWTheatricals, a division of TheaterWorksUSA, has optioned the rights and attached Kate Wetherhead (book), Mark Sonnenblick (music and lyrics) and Annie Tippe (direction and choreography), with author Ann M. Martin expressing support.
  • An industry presentation is scheduled for November 13 in New York City as the project moves through workshops and readings.
  • Producers are targeting an out-of-town premiere in summer or fall 2026, a New York opening in spring 2027 and a possible national tour in 2027 or 2028, timelines that remain subject to development.
  • The story picks up 12 years after the club disbanded, reuniting Kristy, Mary Anne, Claudia and Stacey in Stoneybrook as they confront questions about identity, careers, relationships and fulfillment.
  • Sonnenblick says the score draws on ’80s/’90s influences like Sheryl Crow, Indigo Girls and Shania Twain, and the team has shared a finale demo and script, with plans calling for eight principals, three swings and a four-piece band.
