Overview
- Emergency services were called around 6pm on Sunday to a property on Crossway in Rogiet, Monmouthshire, where the infant was pronounced dead at the scene.
 - Armed officers and several ambulances responded, and the Welsh Ambulance Service deployed specialist teams including the Hazardous Area Response Team.
 - Assistant Chief Constable Vicki Townsend said the dog was sedated at the address, taken to a vet and euthanized.
 - Gwent Police report no arrests at this stage and say enquiries are continuing to determine the breed and establish the full circumstances.
 - Police appealed for information via 101 quoting log 2500349915 or through social media or Crimestoppers, as local leaders urged against speculation and asked for privacy for the family.
