Babbar Khalsa Terrorist With ISI Links Arrested in Joint Police Operation in UP
Lajar Masih, who escaped custody last year, was apprehended with explosives and weapons, foiling a planned attack on the Maha Kumbh in Prayagraj.
- Lajar Masih, an operative of Babbar Khalsa International with ties to Pakistan's ISI, was arrested in a joint operation by Uttar Pradesh STF and Punjab Police in Kaushambi district early Thursday.
- The suspect had planned a terror attack during the Maha Kumbh in Prayagraj but failed due to heightened security measures at the event.
- Authorities recovered a cache of weapons and explosives, including three hand grenades, two detonators, a foreign-made pistol, and 13 cartridges, as well as other materials like explosive powder and a mobile phone without a SIM card.
- Masih, who escaped judicial custody in Punjab in September 2024, is believed to have worked under Germany-based Babbar Khalsa operative Swarn Singh and maintained direct contact with ISI operatives.
- The arrest highlights ongoing concerns about arms and drug smuggling networks linked to Pakistan and the activities of Babbar Khalsa across multiple regions in India.
