Ayodhya Ramps Up Deepotsav 2025 With 2.8 Million-Diya Record Bid on Oct. 19

The state is coupling the festival with lasting ghat upgrades and citywide Ramayana-themed art to cement Ayodhya’s draw for pilgrims and tourists.

  • Organisers plan to light 2.8 million earthen lamps along the Saryu ghats on October 19, with Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath scheduled to light the first diya at Ram Ki Paidi.
  • This year’s layout includes 15–16 lakh lamps at Ram Ki Paidi and over 4.25 lakh at Laxman Kila Ghat, with more than 30 lakh diyas expected across the district.
  • Permanent works include a spectator gallery and new steps seating 18,000–20,000 people, plus projects worth about ₹2,367.61 lakh for amphitheatres, stone canopies and pillars, and the installation of large decorative lamps at Ram Ki Paidi.
  • Preparations feature 22 coordinating committees, nodal officer Prof. Sant Sharan Mishra, assigned magistrate duties, a 24/7 central control room, and 47 reserve magistrates on standby.
  • Citywide beautification adds Ramayana murals and 3D art under the Ayodhya Development Authority, and a tender has been issued to supply 28 lakh lamps for the 56 ghats of Ram Ki Paidi.
