Ayodhya Mosque Trust Files Fresh Traditional Design With ADA After Earlier Plan Rejected

The move follows public disclosure that the 2021 plan lacked mandatory clearances.

Overview

  • The Indo-Islamic Cultural Foundation on Thursday submitted a new Awadhi-style proposal featuring five minarets and a classical dome to the Ayodhya Development Authority.
  • ADA records show the trust’s 23 June 2021 application was rejected on 16 September for missing NOCs from public works, civil aviation, irrigation, revenue, the municipal corporation, pollution control and fire services.
  • Trust leaders say a modern, glass-heavy concept was dropped in 2023 after community feedback and internal objections favored a traditional look.
  • The trust plans to complete paperwork and obtain required clearances before launching crowdfunding, with the final map expected within two to three months, according to officials.
  • Beyond the mosque, the Dhannipur complex is planned to include social facilities such as a hospital, community kitchen and educational and cultural centers, and the trust has asked the state for a wider access road.
