Ayodhya Finalizes Ram Ki Paidi Upgrades for Deepotsav 2025

The upgrades showcase a state-funded beautification drive to elevate the Saryu ghats.

Overview

  • Ayodhya’s mayor says seven large permanent decorative lamps are in the final installation phase at Ram Ki Paidi ahead of Deepotsav scheduled for October 17–20, with a key ceremony on October 19.
  • Official project material lists eight grand lamps, creating an unresolved discrepancy with the mayor’s statement about seven.
  • In 2023–24 the state built roughly 350 meters of steps and a spectator gallery for ₹2,324.55 lakh, adding seating for an estimated 18,000–20,000 visitors.
  • For 2024–25 the government approved ₹2,367.61 lakh for eight small amphitheatres, six stone canopies, seven-meter stone pillars, and other enhancements, with works executed through UPPCL.
  • The district administration has assigned magistrates for lamp-lighting, processions, and VVIP movements, opened a 24-hour fair control room from October 16–20, and ordered safety and hospitality inspections.
