Axiom-4 Mission to Launch June 19 After Falcon-9 and ISS Module Fixes

Overview

  • NASA, Axiom Space and SpaceX have set June 19 as the no-earlier-than launch date for Axiom-4 after four postponements.
  • SpaceX technicians repaired a liquid oxygen leak on the Falcon-9 rocket and verified the fix with a wet dress rehearsal.
  • Flight controllers working with Roscosmos reported stable pressure readings in the ISS Zvezda service module following recent sealing efforts.
  • The commercial crew will include veteran astronaut Peggy Whitson as commander, ISRO pilot Shubhanshu Shukla and two ESA mission specialists.
  • The 14-day mission will host microgravity experiments on edible microalgae, salad seeds, tardigrades and other life-science studies supporting India’s Gaganyaan program.
