Overview

  • Axiom-4’s launch is now scheduled for June 10 at 5:52 PM IST from Kennedy Space Center after weather and processing delays prompted a second reschedule.
  • Group Captain Shubhanshu Shukla will serve as mission pilot, becoming the second Indian to travel to space since Rakesh Sharma’s 1984 flight.
  • Veteran NASA astronaut Peggy Whitson commands the multinational crew alongside Poland’s Slawosz Uznanski-Wisniewski and Hungary’s Tibor Kapu.
  • The quartet will spend 14 days aboard the ISS performing around 60 experiments representing 31 countries, including seven microgravity studies led by Indian institutions.
  • Shukla will carry mango nectar, moong dal halwa and a swan doll symbolizing purity and wisdom and plans to host live outreach sessions with students and industry professionals in India.
