AVM unveils Wi-Fi 7 FritzBox routers and IP54-rated outdoor repeater

Presented at ANGA COM in Köln, the new products will boost mesh reliability for DSL/fiber users by offering cellular failover in FritzOS 8.20

Overview

  • AVM introduced three new Wi-Fi 7 routers: the FritzBox 7630 for DSL, the 7632 with G.fast support, and the 4630 for external fiber modems handling up to 2.5 Gbps.
  • All three models feature improved WLAN Mesh technology with dual-band operation over 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz using 2×2 MIMO streams.
  • The FritzRepeater 1610 Outdoor extends PoE-powered Wi-Fi 6 coverage outdoors with IP54 protection and a Gigabit LAN port for device connections.
  • The upcoming FritzOS 8.20 update will add an “Always online” fallback feature that switches to a USB mobile modem or LTE-equipped device upon WAN failure.
  • AVM’s 5690 XGS router adds XGS-PON support for fiber speeds up to 10 Gbps to enhance interoperability across European DSL and fiber networks.
