Avios Relaunches Central Transfer Tool With 2FA and Direct Program-to-Program Moves

The update follows recent Avios thefts, shifting transfers to a permanently linked, online-only process.

Overview

  • The new Transfer Avios page on avios.com consolidates movement across all seven Avios programs with 1:1, fee-free, generally instant transfers that can be reversed.
  • First-time transfers for Iberia, Aer Lingus, Vueling and Loganair require creating a permanent link stored at avios.com with exact matches on name, email and, if recorded, date of birth.
  • Members can now move Avios directly among Iberia, Aer Lingus, Vueling and Loganair without routing through British Airways, while Qatar Airways and Finnair still require BA as the conduit.
  • Iberia’s former 90‑day membership and one‑Avios activity rule has been removed, allowing new Iberia accounts to send or receive Avios immediately.
  • Transfers and account linking must be completed online with mandatory two‑factor authentication, and call centers no longer process or assist with transfers.
