• The state issued a formal notification on Tuesday appointing the 1993-batch IAS officer as chief secretary, succeeding Alka Tiwari.
• Avinash Kumar assumed charge in Ranchi and met Chief Minister Hemant Soren the same evening.
• The notification also assigns him as Additional Chief Secretary to the Chief Minister and Chief Resident Commissioner at Jharkhand Bhavan in New Delhi.
• Ajay Kumar Singh, a 1995-batch IAS officer, received additional charge as Development Commissioner until further orders.
• The Chief Minister’s Office said Kumar’s experience would strengthen the administration and speed up the implementation of development schemes.
