Avelo Airlines to Exit West Coast Bases by December 2025

Closing its Sonoma base on August 11 followed by a one-aircraft operation in Burbank on August 12, the airline will redeploy capacity to East Coast hubs.

The Charles M. Schulz Sonoma County Airport will see its last Avelo Airlines flight on Aug. 11.

Overview

  • Service at Charles M. Schulz–Sonoma County Airport ends August 11 and Burbank operations are cut to one aircraft on August 12 ahead of a full West Coast exit on December 2, 2025.
  • CEO Andrew Levy said West Coast routes failed to deliver adequate financial returns in a highly competitive environment.
  • Aircraft from closing bases will bolster Avelo’s existing hubs in Delaware, North Carolina, Connecticut, Pennsylvania and Florida.
  • Avelo stressed the decision is driven by financial performance and is unrelated to protests over its DHS/ICE deportation flight contract.
  • California-based employees may transfer to other Avelo bases and customers on Sonoma and Burbank routes can cancel bookings for full refunds.
