Avatar: Fogo e Cinzas’ Holds No. 1 at Brazil’s Christmas Weekend Box Office

Comscore data show a strong frame led by the franchise sequel even as national revenue and admissions slipped from the previous weekend.

  • Since its Dec. 18 debut, the title has reached roughly 2.44 million admissions and R$59.4 million in domestic revenue.
  • Zootopia 2 finished second with R$6.36 million and 286 thousand tickets sold, while Anaconda opened in third at R$5.76 million with 246 thousand viewers.
  • Previews of Bob Esponja – Em Busca da Calça Quadrada and A Empregada rounded out the weekend’s top five performers.
  • Brazilian cinemas took in R$40.7 million from 1.66 million admissions for the period, down about 6% and 7.3% week over week, and in the U.S. Avatar led with $64 million from Dec. 26–28, per Box Office Mojo.
