Producer Jon Landau has confirmed that the third installment of James Cameron’s “Avatar” franchise does not have an official title yet, debunking rumors that it would be called 'Avatar: The Seed Bearer.'
The release timeline for Cameron’s next trio of “Avatar” sequels has been pushed back, with 'Avatar 3' now expected to premiere on Dec. 19, 2025.
Both 'Avatar 4' and 'Avatar 5' have also been pushed back multiple years, with 'Avatar 4' now expected to premiere on Dec. 21, 2029, and 'Avatar 5' on Dec. 19, 2031.
Plot details for 'Avatar 3' remain mostly under wraps, but it has been hinted that the sequel will feature an antagonistic tribe of Na’vi called the Ash People, led by a character named Varang, played by Oona Chaplin.
'Avatar 2', titled 'The Way of Water', was a box office success, generating $2.3 billion in worldwide ticket sales to become the third-highest grosser in movie history.
