Overview
- Munster and the IRFU announced Lee’s appointment on Wednesday, Oct. 7, and he will start on 21 October to take over day-to-day leadership.
- Lee is hired on an initial 12-month interim contract and has said he wants to be considered for the permanent CEO role based on his performance.
- Since the announcement Lee has begun outreach to key figures including head coach Clayton McMillan, general manager Ian Costello, captain Tadhg Beirne and former captain Peter O’Mahony.
- The move follows months of internal turmoil that led Munster to commission an independent governance and organisational review after the Roger Randle episode and related resignations.
- Lee has said his early priorities will be to better align the commercial and high-performance sides, raise match-day attendance at Thomond Park and use the review’s findings to help shape the permanent recruitment process.
