Avalanche Trade Justus Annunen and Draft Pick to Predators for Scott Wedgewood

The swap of backup goaltenders includes Nashville gaining cap space and a 2025 sixth-round draft pick.

The Colorado Avalanche acquired 32-year-old goaltender Scott Wedgewood from the Nashville Predators in exchange for 24-year-old Justus Annunen and a sixth-round pick in the 2025 NHL Draft.
Wedgewood, who signed a two-year, $3 million contract with Nashville in July 2024, had a 1-2-1 record with a 3.69 goals-against average in five games this season.
Annunen, a 2018 third-round pick by Colorado, has posted a 6-4-0 record this season with a 3.23 goals-against average and is under contract through 2026.
The trade provides Nashville with nearly $1 million in salary cap savings over the next two seasons as they continue to back Juuse Saros as their starting goaltender.
Wedgewood is expected to compete with Alexandar Georgiev for playing time in Colorado's net moving forward.
