Avalanche sign Tatar to 1-year, $1.5 million contract

The Colorado Avalanche signed free agent forward Tomas Tatar to a one-year, $1.5 million contract.
Tatar scored 20 goals and 28 assists in 82 games last season with the New Jersey Devils.
The 32-year-old Tatar is a veteran forward who has scored at least 20 goals in seven seasons.
Tatar will help fill a hole in the Avalanche's lineup after losing several key forwards in free agency.
The addition of Tatar takes up most of the remaining salary cap space for the Avalanche this offseason.
