Wilson's role included handling trade calls, contract affairs, and CBA compliance for all 32 teams.
He will work closely with GM Chris MacFarland and President Joe Sakic.
Wilson's appointment adds depth to the Avalanche's executive team, which also includes Kevin McDonald as assistant GM.
Recent hires also include Nick Pryor as amateur scouting director and Alexi Pianosi as strength and conditioning coach.
