Auto Markets in Argentina, Peru and Spain Extend 2025 Rebound as Spain’s September Tops 2019

Improved purchasing power, easier financing and wider electrified choices propel the recovery.

Overview

  • Spain registered 85,167 passenger cars in September, up 16.4% year over year and the first September to surpass 2019 levels, with private buyers leading growth.
  • Electrified vehicles kept gaining share in Spain as hybrids reached 41.4% and plug-ins plus battery electrics rose to 24%, again outpacing gasoline; Dacia Sandero led models and Tesla Model 3 ranked second.
  • Argentina recorded 55,827 registrations in September, a 27.8% annual increase and 1.7% above August, lifting the January–September total to 500,089 units, up 60.4% versus 2024.
  • ACARA reported the Toyota Yaris as September’s top-selling model in Argentina and noted a sustained monthly sales “floor” above 50,000 registrations despite recent volatility.
  • Peru’s momentum continued with 135,243 new vehicles sold in January–August, up 21% with SUVs and pick-ups leading, while Scotiabank projects roughly 15% growth in 2025 to about 195,000 units.
