- Los Angeles County sheriff’s officials said 52-year-old Hector Lionel Alfaro fatally shot his 48-year-old wife and their 17-year-old daughter inside the family’s Lakewood home on Jan. 15 before killing himself.
- Deputies responded around 8 a.m. to the 5800 block of Lorelei Avenue and encountered an “extremely distraught” 19-year-old who was detained for questioning and later identified as the couple’s eldest daughter.
- The survivor told investigators she awoke to gunfire, that her father appeared and fired several shots at her without hitting her, and that he then shot himself while standing near her.
- Deputies found Alfaro in the den and the two victims in separate bedrooms with gunshot wounds to the upper torso, and investigators recovered two firearms at the scene.
