Author Cait Corrain Admits to 'Review Bombing' Fellow Authors on Goodreads

Corrain, who targeted books by authors of color, has been dropped by her publisher and agent following the controversy.

Cait Corrain, a debut fantasy writer, has been revealed as the person behind a series of fake accounts that were used to 'review bomb' several forthcoming books on Goodreads, a popular book review website.
Corrain's actions, which involved leaving negative reviews on books by other authors while giving her own book five-star ratings, were exposed by Canadian author Xiran Jay Zhao.
Corrain initially blamed a friend for the incident, but later admitted to her actions in a public apology, attributing her behavior to struggles with depression, alcoholism, and substance abuse.
Several of the negatively reviewed books were written by authors of color, leading to accusations of racism against Corrain.
As a result of the controversy, Corrain has been dropped by her publisher, Del Rey Books, and her agent, Rebecca Podos.
