Austria Sets Final Red Motorway Sticker for Nov. 2025 as Toll Permits Go Fully Digital by 2027

Most motorists already use the digital permit, easing the switch.

Overview

  • The last adhesive vignette, in red, goes on sale in late November 2025, with 2026 as a transition year and adhesive stickers accepted through the end of January 2027.
  • ASFINAG reports that more than 75% of customers already use the digital vignette, according to board member Herbert Kasser.
  • Vignette tariffs rise 2.9% for 2026, with car prices set at €9.60 (1‑day), €12.80 (10‑day), €32.00 (2‑month) and €106.80 (annual) and motorcycle prices at €3.80, €5.10, €12.80 and €42.70.
  • Digital vignettes are available via the online Mautshop, ASFINAG outlets and partner retailers, with around 3,500 sales points expanding toward roughly 6,000 from late November 2025 and about 100 vending machines in operation.
  • Purchases made at outlets or vending machines are valid immediately, while online purchases of an annual digital vignette carry an 18‑day waiting period due to consumer protection rules.
