Overview
- Austria’s S1 Vienna bypass moves ahead in two stages: surface works from Groß-Enzersdorf to Süßenbrunn start in spring 2026 (about €500 million, six years), with the Donau–Lobau tunnel between Schwechat and Groß-Enzersdorf projected to begin around 2030/31 (about €2.2 billion).
- Environmental NGOs and Green politicians announced protests and flagged possible legal action, with a demonstration at the transport ministry in Vienna called for Friday morning.
- Hamburg’s A7 and the Elbtunnel will be fully closed from Friday 22:00 to Monday 05:00 for expansion, control-center integration and maintenance, with long-distance detours via the A1, A21 and B205.
- On the A3 near Emmerich, five 1960s-era bridges are being replaced, triggering a full closure between Emmerich‑Ost and Rees from 26 to 29 September; the Wiesenstraße overpass remains closed until 26 January 2026.
- On Austria’s Brenner A13, night-time bans for trucks over 3.5 tonnes will apply 6–17 October for Luegbrücke resurfacing, and ASFINAG outlines a phased bridge replacement targeting completion around 2030.
