Overview
- Southeastern Australia will start the Easter weekend with temperatures 2–8°C above average, before a cold front brings a cool change from Sunday onward.
- A distinct cold front will cross southern Western Australia on Good Friday, bringing patchy showers and a risk of thunderstorms, before spreading eastward by Sunday.
- Cyclone Errol, currently a category 4 system, is forecast to weaken below cyclone strength as it loops back toward northwest WA, but could still bring rain and localized flooding risks.
- A low-pressure system off the east coast is expected to generate large, hazardous waves along the coasts of southeast Queensland and New South Wales starting Thursday.
- Rainfall across southern states is expected to be patchy and generally low, while northern regions may see heavier rain from Cyclone Errol’s remnants.
