Australian Tourist Sentenced for Fatal Wrong-Way Crash in California

Luke Nardini, a 32-year-old Australian tourist, was sentenced to 60 days in jail and one year of probation for a wrong-way crash that killed Jack and Linda Davis in San Mateo County.
Nardini pleaded no contest to two misdemeanor counts of vehicular manslaughter after driving on the wrong side of the road, a mistake attributed to his Australian driving habits.
The crash occurred on September 1, 2023, when Nardini, unfamiliar with U.S. traffic rules, collided head-on with the Davises' vehicle on Highway 84.
In addition to jail time, Nardini must complete community service and give educational talks on traffic safety at local high schools and through the Coroner’s Office programs.
The plea deal, accepted by Nardini, was offered by Judge Jeffrey Jackson, capping the potential jail sentence at nine months, with mitigating factors considered in the sentencing.
