Australian Surfer Laura Enever Sets Women's Record for Largest Paddle-in Wave at 43.6ft in Hawaii

Record-breaking feat officially certified by Guinness World Records and World Surf League, surpassing previous seven-year record held by Brazilian surfer Andrea Moller by just one foot.

  • Australian surfer Laura Enever set a new women's record for the largest paddle-in wave ever surfed, measuring 43.6 feet.
  • The record was up from the previous best set seven years ago by Brazilian surfer Andrea Moller, which was 42 feet.
  • Enever achieved the record on the Outer Reef in Oahu, Hawaii, in January 2023, in a surf break known as the Himalayas.
  • Enever began her surfing career at age 11 and competed on the World Surf League (WSL) Championship Tour for seven years, before pursuing big wave surfing.
  • The surf was captured on video, which was used by the Guinness World Records along with other detailed information about the site, location and wave to verify its height.
  • Enever's achievement was celebrated by the surfing community, including the WSL chief of sport Jessi Miley-Dyer, and seven times world surfing champion Layne Beachley.
