Australian Officer Sentenced for Threatening Colleague Over 'Top Gun' Spoilers

Dominic Gaynor faces job loss and community service after pointing gun at Morgan Royston, who has since left the force and suffered depression.

Dominic Gaynor, a 30-year-old Australian police officer, has been sentenced for pulling a gun on his colleague, Morgan Royston, who threatened to spoil the ending of the latest Top Gun film.
Gaynor has been placed on a community corrections order for two years, handed 100 hours of community service, and recorded a conviction.
The incident occurred when Gaynor removed his pistol from the holster and aimed it at Royston, holding it in position for five seconds while laughing.
Royston, who has since left the police force, fell into depression after the incident and stated that he had 'completely lost trust' in the New South Wales Police Force.
Gaynor's lawyer, Cris Micali, argued that the incident was a case of 'skylarking and tomfoolery' that had gone awry, and denied that his client had any malicious intent to scare or intimidate Royston.
