Australian Doctor Cancer-Free After Pioneering Treatment on His Own Brain Tumor

Professor Richard Scolyer's groundbreaking immunotherapy approach shows no recurrence of aggressive glioblastoma one year post-diagnosis.

Richard Scolyer was diagnosed with terminal brain cancer in June 2023 while traveling in Poland.
Scolyer applied his own melanoma research to develop a novel combination immunotherapy treatment.
He became the first patient to receive this pre-surgery immunotherapy, followed by a personalized vaccine and radiotherapy.
Despite initial complications, Scolyer is now back to his daily routine and reports feeling the best he has in years.
Both Scolyer and his research partner, Georgina Long, were named Australians of the Year for their contributions to cancer treatment.
