The jet will anchor No. 10 Squadron’s ISR and electronic warfare mission from Edinburgh under a U.S. Foreign Military Sales program.

Overview

  • The aircraft arrived on January 22, 2026, with delivery confirmed in a joint statement by Defence Minister Richard Marles and Defence Industry Minister Pat Conroy.
  • Australia will operate a four-aircraft Peregrine fleet from RAAF Base Edinburgh, with No. 10 Squadron designated as the operating unit.
  • The acquisition is through U.S. Foreign Military Sales, with the first jet handed over by the U.S. Air Force and follow-on aircraft remaining in USAF custody to support training and pre-delivery work.
  • L3Harris has established an in-country field service team, and the missionized G550-based platform is intended to provide long-range ISR and electronic warfare effects.
  • The Peregrine will network with P-8A, MQ-4C, F-35A, E-7A and E/A-18G to share sensor data, with officials highlighting deterrence and allied interoperability and a DSCA-approved $404 million Baseline 2 upgrade to sustain the capability.
