• Australia’s federal transport department recalled all 2025 Model Y vehicles after finding the driver-side automatic window protection may close with excessive force and risk injury.
• Tesla will remedy the defect via a remote software update, so owners will not need a service appointment.
• Vehicles already running software version 2025.26.6 or later are not affected by the issue.
• Tesla will contact affected owners directly as part of the national safety recall process.
• The move follows a similar recall in New Zealand on 26 August and echoes a 2022 U.S. recall of about 1.1 million Teslas; it is Australia’s second Tesla recall this year.
