Austin Police Seek Tips in Two October Hit-and-Run Cases, Identify Distinctive Jeep in Research Blvd Crash

Detectives are offering up to $1,000 through Crime Stoppers for information that leads to an arrest.

Overview

  • In the Oct. 21 two-vehicle crash on the 9000 block of Research Boulevard, officers found one vehicle at the scene and one occupant reported minor injuries.
  • Investigators say the fleeing vehicle was a dark two-door Jeep with the words “DON'T DO IT” on the driver’s front side, and the driver was described as a Hispanic man about 40 to 50 years old with short curly black hair and a height around 5'10".
  • Anyone with information on the Research Boulevard case can submit an anonymous tip to Capital Area Crime Stoppers at 512-472-8477 or online.
  • In a separate case, APD released photos of the suspect vehicle tied to the Oct. 18 fatal collision at East 11th Street and San Jacinto Boulevard that killed scooter rider Khaled Saadeddine.
  • The investigations remain active, and tips about the Oct. 18 fatality can also be directed to APD’s Vehicular Homicide Unit at 512-974-8111 or through Crime Stoppers.
