- APD identified the suspect as Neli Dinora Rivera Felipe, who was arrested on Sept. 22 and booked into the Travis County Jail on a charge of abandoning or endangering a child.

- An arrest affidavit states Rivera Felipe told detectives she gave birth on Sept. 19 in a bathroom and later placed the infant in a white bucket before disposing of the child and bucket in separate dumpsters, with a bucket containing apparent blood and hair recovered nearby.
- The newborn was discovered on Sept. 20 around 1:37 p.m., was transported to Dell Children’s Medical Center, is reported to be doing better, and has been placed with Child Protective Services.
