Overview
- The restriction took effect Oct. 29 and applies across all City of Austin parks, greenbelts and preserves.
- Building fires and using wood or charcoal BBQ pits, grills or smokers are prohibited until further notice.
- Propane stoves are allowed only in designated picnic areas; smoking remains prohibited in parks.
- Violations may result in civil fines ranging from $300 to $500.
- Officials will continually evaluate fire risk under City Code § 8-1-92 and issue a notice when the restriction is lifted, with wildfire resources available at AustinTexas.gov/Wildfire.
