Aurora Police Shooting Leaves Knife-Wielding Man Dead

An independent task force has opened a review into the officers’ use of force.

  • Officers were dispatched around 12:35 p.m. to the 300 block of South Broadway for a report of a battery and a person with a weapon.
  • Police found a 27-year-old man barricaded and armed; he displayed a knife when confronted by officers.
  • Officers fired and struck the man at least once, then provided medical aid until paramedics took over.
  • The man later died from his injuries, his identity has not been released, and an autopsy is pending.
