Overview

  • Police charged 19-year-old Daveon Javon-James Jackson with leaving the scene of a fatal crash, careless driving resulting in death, hit-and-run and failing to report a crash after tracing a blue 2014 Dodge Charger.
  • Investigators used doorbell, MESH and flock camera footage alongside community tips to map the vehicle’s route from the scooter crash site to its abandonment in a Denver parking lot.
  • The 16-year-old boy was struck from behind Friday around 11:15 p.m. while riding in a marked bike lane at East Wesley Drive and South Dunkirk Street and later died in hospital.
  • On Saturday at about 11:15 p.m., a 62-year-old man was fatally struck by two vehicles on northbound I-225 near Parker Road; both drivers remained on scene and the highway fatality case is under active investigation.
  • Aurora detectives continue to solicit doorbell and security camera footage along with witness accounts to bolster evidence and reconstruct both crashes.
