Overview
- NOAA now expects G1 (minor) geomagnetic storming with a chance of G2 (moderate) on Oct. 7–8 as CME effects peak.
- Auroras could be visible on the northern horizon across 12 U.S. states, including Alaska and northern parts of WA, ID, MT, WY, ND, SD, MN, WI, MI, NY and ME.
- The UK Met Office forecasts an aurora enhancement across Scotland, with possible visibility farther south depending on cloud cover from Oct. 6 onward.
- Two slow CMEs launched Oct. 3–4 are arriving into a persistent fast solar wind, with timing uncertain; observers are urged to monitor live Bz and Kp data for rapid changes.
- A bright Harvest/full moon will wash out fainter displays, though stronger activity may still show color and movement, especially from dark sites and during peak hours around 9 p.m.–2 a.m.
