Audi Unveils New Hinwil Campus for Its Formula 1 Team

The purpose-built site is designed to centralize engineering work and lure specialist staff to support Audi's long-term bid to contend for championships.

Overview

  • Audi disclosed Thursday it will build a new F1 campus less than one kilometre from its long-standing Hinwil base, with parts already in use from summer 2026 and full completion scheduled for 2030.
  • The current Hinwil facility will stay fully operational during construction and will later be repurposed as the team’s manufacturing centre and wind-tunnel hub.
  • Engine development and production will remain at Audi’s Neuburg power‑unit facility in Germany, and the Bicester technical centre in the UK will be retained to broaden recruitment.
  • Mattia Binotto said the campus is a strategic investment in people and capability intended to attract and keep world-class engineers, designers and technicians needed for long-term competitiveness.
  • The project signals a long‑term commitment to Hinwil after Audi’s staged takeover of Sauber and could expand the team’s R&D and hiring reach as it seeks to improve on modest 2026 on-track results.
