Audemars Piguet Unveils Royal Oak RD#5, Reengineering the Chronograph for Its 150th Anniversary

The 150-piece release debuts a patented chronograph architecture that delivers lighter pushers with instantaneous minute jumps.

Overview

  • The new Calibre 8100 pairs a selfwinding flyback chronograph with a flying tourbillon and an instant-jump minute counter.
  • A patented rack-and-pinion reset system stores and releases energy for smoother, more precise chronograph resets.
  • Low‑travel pushers inspired by smartphone buttons operate at about 0.3 mm of travel and 300 g of force while maintaining water resistance.
  • The 39 mm by 8.1 mm “Jumbo” case uses titanium with bulk metallic glass for the bezel, crown, and pushers, set against a Bleu Nuit Petite Tapisserie dial.
  • The limited edition totals 150 pieces, is priced at CHF 260,000, and will be available exclusively through Audemars Piguet boutiques.
