Johni Broome, Auburn's leading scorer and rebounder, injured his right shoulder just over two minutes into the game against Georgia State.
Broome, who averages 19.7 points and a Division I-leading 12.7 rebounds, left the court and returned to the bench with his arm in a sling and ice on his shoulder.
Auburn head coach Bruce Pearl indicated that Broome is unlikely to play against No. 16 Purdue on Saturday but further evaluation, including an MRI, is pending.
Chaney Johnson stepped up in Broome's absence, scoring a career-high 26 points with eight rebounds in Auburn's dominant 100-59 victory.
