Auburn names Payton Thorne starting quarterback

Payton Thorne transferred to Auburn from Michigan State in May.
Thorne threw for over 2,600 yards and 19 touchdowns last season at Michigan State.
Auburn chose Thorne based on his experience and fit in coach Hugh Freeze's offense.
Thorne had a record-breaking 2021 season but struggled some in 2022.
Thorne will replace TJ Finley, who was Auburn's starter last season.
