Overview

  • Released Aug. 19, the interview features Plaza saying she is "here and functioning" while describing grieving as "a daily struggle."
  • She likens her feelings to the film The Gorge, calling grief a "giant ocean of awfulness" she can see, sometimes faces, and cannot escape.
  • The Los Angeles County medical examiner previously ruled Baena’s Jan. 3 death a suicide; he was 47 and the couple had separated in Sept. 2024, according to official records.
  • This marks the first time Plaza has spoken at length about the loss since a joint statement with Baena’s family called it an "unimaginable tragedy" and requested privacy.
  • Plaza notes support from close friends and her dog, Frankie, as she returns to limited publicity tied to her new film Honey Don’t!.
