ATU Pilots Plin Top-Ups on Lima’s Red, Blue and Purple Bus Corridors

The move extends Interbank’s Plin beyond the Metropolitano to speed boarding by enabling remote reloads validated on bus devices.

Overview

  • The pilot began on September 27, allowing Lima Pass and Metropolitano cards used on the complementary corridors to be recharged via the Plin app on phones or computers.
  • Users can deposit from S/1 to S/200 per day and may top up their own card or someone else’s.
  • After recharging, riders must activate the credit at validators inside buses, with three beeps confirming successful activation.
  • If a virtual top-up is not validated immediately, there is a seven-day window to do so at stations before assistance is required at CAT offices in Chimpu Ocllo, Naranjal, Matellini, Central or Javier Prado.
  • Conventional reload options remain available through staff at stops, ticket booths, station machines and about 1,200 external points such as bodegas, pharmacies, Tambo and Oxxo, following a March launch on the Metropolitano that logged roughly two million Plin recharges.
