ATU Closes Avenida Universitaria 24/7 as 30 Bus Routes Detour for Corridor Construction

The detours enable work on an exclusive Metropolitano corridor that media report will take two years to build with a 347.6 million-sol budget.

Overview

  • The full closure covers both directions between José Granda and Tomás Valle in San Martín de Porres and took effect on November 4 with round-the-clock restrictions.
  • Twenty-eight routes from Los Olivos now use Tomás Valle, Los Próceres and José Granda when heading north–south, and José Granda, Los Próceres and Tomás Valle south–north.
  • Two routes from Independencia detour via Germán Aguirre, Los Próceres and José Granda north–south, reversing that sequence when traveling south–north.
  • ATU says the works fall under the project titled “Ampliación del servicio de movilidad urbana en la avenida Universitaria, tramo avenida Metropolitana – avenida José Granda,” linked to the broader Vía Expresa Norte/Metropolitano expansion.
  • Officials advise passengers to plan trips in advance and follow on-site signage and staff directions as the diversion plan remains in operation.
