ATU and Yape Launch Mobile Top-Ups for Metropolitano and Corridor Cards

Officials set an early goal to digitize one-fifth of recharges as mobile payments expand.

Overview

  • Top-ups run daily from 00:00 to 21:15 in Yape’s “Yapear servicios,” with a S/10 minimum for Lima Pass and complementary-corridor cards.
  • Credit appears after about 15 minutes, then must be activated at 65 totems across 43 Metropolitano stations or automatically when boarding corridor buses, with station activation available 5:00 a.m.–11:00 p.m.
  • Users have up to seven days to validate the balance before needing help at Card Service Centers located at Chimpu Ocllo, Naranjal, Matellini, Central and Javier Prado.
  • The service was presented at Estación Central by transport authorities and Yape executives, who emphasized reduced cash handling, shorter queues and improved security.
  • Yape joins the existing Plin channel for digital recharges, and the company aims to reach roughly 20% of total top-ups in the first quarter.
