Overview
- Pam Bondi directed the DOJ on July 12 to drop all charges against Dr. Michael Kirk Moore Jr., ending his federal trial in Salt Lake City.
- Moore was indicted in January 2023 on conspiracy and property-conversion charges for allegedly issuing almost 1,900 fake CDC vaccine cards, destroying over $28,000 of government-provided doses and giving minors saline injections.
- Acting U.S. Attorney Felice John Viti filed the dismissal motion, arguing that dropping the case was in the interests of justice and avoiding Moore’s potential 35-year prison term.
- Bondi credited advocacy by Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene and Sen. Mike Lee for bringing the case to her attention and said Moore “gave his patients a choice when the federal government refused to do so.”
- Although Moore’s prosecution has ended, the legal status of his three co-defendants remains unsettled as the Justice Department refocuses its priorities.
