Overview
- Sunday morning a 37-year-old man in an apartment on via Cervino in Turin allegedly took his 31-year-old partner onto a tenth-floor balcony, tried to throw her into the void and put his hands on her neck.
- The woman and her one-year-old daughter are reported safe and the woman is in good condition after leaving the building to a neighbor's apartment.
- After the attack the man jumped from the tenth floor and died at the scene, with neighbours reportedly trying to stop him as he moved to the balcony.
- Initial reports said the woman fled before the suicide but a later reconstruction indicates the man may have rendered her unconscious before jumping and that she left with her child only after he had died.
- Carabinieri from the Nucleo Radiomobile and Compagnia Torino Oltre Dora are conducting inquiries and say formal findings on motive and the full sequence of events will depend on their ongoing investigation
